Alabama First Responders Benefit Program attends and speaks at the Alabama Association of Fire Chief

TRAINING OPPORTUNITY

Greetings ALFRBP Members, I hope this email finds you well. While attending the 2020 Alabama Association of Fire Chiefs Conference in Perdido Beach, I had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with many of your Fire Chiefs. It was an honor to spend some time speaking on the topic of “Retirement” and “How to File A Cancer Claim” under the Alabama First Responders Benefits Program. A tutorial was presenting on the process and actions needed to get started with converting the Cancer coverage to an individual plan. Are you aware of the Conversion of Benefits option? Yes, a 2020 retiring firefighter can convert the Cancer coverage to an individual plan at the same rate as the municipality purchased. For more information on this process, please feel free to contact me direct. In addition to the Conversion of Cancer benefits, a retiring firefighter who wishes to start a new career and wants to continue his LTD benefits, can also convert this coverage for 24 months under the same rate as the municipality. Please let me know if you need more information on this topic. Lastly, filing a Critical Illness (Cancer) claim requires the actions of both employee and employer. I have put together a simple presentation on the steps to take for filing a claim and would be happy to walk you through the process. Please know that I am here to support your municipality and firefighters with coverage provided by the Alabama First Responders Benefits Program. Take care & be safe!
